Meet Ilka & Emma

Therapy for the ways we really live.

Half-Time Oranges was founded by Emma Nutland and Ilka Kemp-Hall.

We met while training at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology and both came to therapy from creative backgrounds. Between us, we’ve spent more than 25 years working in the Creative Industries.

It didn’t take us long to discover a shared love of bringing people together and finding creative, playful and informative ways into conversations about sex — particularly the ones that can otherwise feel difficult to start. In 2025, we began running workshops together, and Half-Time Oranges grew from there.

We share a belief in people’s capacity for change and in therapy that is person-centred, affirming and unafraid to challenge when that’s useful. We’re interested in deep work, but we don’t think that means everything has to feel serious.

Most of all, we’re interested in what makes you you and in creating a space where you can bring that with you.

Psychosexual & relationship therapist · COSRT registered

I’m a COSRT-registered Integrative Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and Clinical Sexologist, and I’m currently doing a research project into the effects of PMDD on couples’ therapy.

I draw from various models of therapy that recognise the uniqueness of people and work to help you feel more connected to your emotional, romantic and sexual intimacy. I can help you process past experiences, move towards the kind of relationship you want with sex, and feel empowered in a way that feels right for you.

I understand how difficult it can be to have the language to talk about these topics, and I hope you’ll be able to find the answers you need here — whether that’s for yourself or for your relationship.

Psychosexual & relationship therapist · COSRT registered

I'm a COSRT-registered Integrative Psychosexual and Relationship therapist and Clinical Sexologist. I've spent the past ten years collaborating with NHS services, including Sexual Functioning — experience that particularly shapes my work with people navigating illness, disability, neurodivergence, changes in their bodies, or care from multiple health professionals at once.

Alongside working as a therapist, I specialise in Creative Health, leading programmes and research that bring people together to explore wellbeing through creativity and community. That systems-level view is what draws me to this work — to our most intimate experiences and relationships.

I love creating spaces where we can think deeply and unconventionally, experiment, laugh, and explore together what might help things shift — whether you arrive with something specific, or simply curious about what could feel different.
